Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born on
August 26, 2002), known professionally as Lil Tecca, is an American musician
and rapper. The release of "Ransom," his 2019 single, allowed him to
become a household name. His mixtape debut"We Love You Tecca (2019) included
the track. It peaked at number 4 in the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also
featured the singles Love Me and Did It Again. The album he released as his
debut studio album, Virgo (2020) which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard
200. It also featured the Billboard Hot 100-charting singles "Dolly"
& "When You Down". The mixtape he followed, We Love You Tecca
2, was released in August 2021 and included "Repeat It" and "Lot
of Me". Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was born on the 26th of August, 2002
in the Queens area in New York City to Jamaican immigrants. He was raised in
the Springfield Gardens a neighborhood of Queens which he later moved to
Cedarhurst in Long Island. Sharpe was a child with plans to be an athlete in
basketball, but he switched his focus to music at age 12. Sharpe completed his
studies at Lawrence High School. Tecca was nine years old at the time, was
rapping along with his friends using his Xbox to record. The two would berate
one another. One of the tracks was uploaded to SoundCloud in the past, but it
was removed. In his first years that he wasn't making any plans to pursue music
a profession and instead envisioned becoming an NBA superstar. However, as he
entered his middle school years, the basketball player lost interest and considered
taking the music seriously. His first track to gain some attention,
"Tectri", was created in collaboration with his pal, Lil Gummybear,
and was released in early 2017. His other tracks comprise "Callin" as
well as "Tectri". His smash hit single "Ransom," which was
first posted to Cole Bennett's Lyrical lemonade YouTube channel on May 22 in
2019, started the meteoric rise of Tecca. The song reached number 4 on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track has received over 990 million Spotify plays and
has more than 300 million YouTube views.
